The Doncaster Belles U10s completed their amazing season today with a hard fought 2-0 cup win over Beighton at Outo Kumpo in Sheffield.
Played in bright sunshine, the Belles took a 1-0 lead late in the first half when Jordon skillfully rounded the last Magpes defender before driving a shot home. The heat took its toll and the players looked a little out of sorts at times but a solid performance from Kiera and the two charlottes at the back meant that Beighton were only ever permitted a rare long distance effort at goal.
The question was more along the lines of 'when' or 'if' the girls could add to their lead. The usual player rotation at half time added some more legs eager to run but the lead was finally extended in the strangest of ways. Lydias long goal kick was flicked on by Lisha before Jordan stuck out a foot and managed to lob the Beigton keeper, the ball squeezing into the top of the net.
The 2nd goal gave the Doncaster side a comfortable margin and seemed to completely deflate the Magpies, who had looked well organised but lacked a genuine goal scoring threat.
All that was left was for Jordan to pick up the match ball and the whole team to pick up their winners medals.
