Sheffield and Hallamshire FA are pleased to announce that the Doncaster Rovers Belles have achieved the prestigious FA Charter Standard and Charter Standard Adult Club Status for the clubs junior and adult football development outfits.
Julie Grundy, Girls and Women's Football Development Officer presented both Charter Standard Plaques to Doncaster Rovers Belles Open Age Section Chairman Jonathan James and Junior Section Vice Chairman Lenny Job.
The Charter Standard Awards for Doncaster Rovers Belles come just in time for the clubs 40 year celebrations which will include a get together of first team players past and present on Saturday 13th June 2009.
James Hope-Gill, Chief Executive for the County FA said "We would like to offer our warmest congratulations to the club on achieving both Charter Standard Awards. The Charter Standard Award scheme enables us reward these clubs and schools who are striving to consistently achieve and deliver a quality football experience to the best of their abilities.
Doncaster Rovers Belles are the top women's club in the region which makes the attainment of these awards even more important as our local young female players all aspire to hopefully play against the like of Arsenal and Chelsea for the club."
The Junior section of the Doncaster Rovers Belles comprises several teams of girls in the age groups under 10 to under 18, that compete in the Sheffield & Hallamshire Girls County League. Although our teams compete at the highest level we are not an elitist club and offer girls the opportunity to train and play football regardless of race, colour, creed, ethnic origin or even ability.
The club is a registered charity and operates to the standards of both the Charity Commission and to the FA charter standard.
We continue to grow and achieve success thanks to the many volunteers, parents and, of course, players who have a passion for the game of football and give their time freely. A number of our junior players have now gone on to play football with our adult Belles teams at 'A', Reserve and also Women's National Premier League levels. Several of our players have also graduated to the FA's regional Girl's Centres of Excellence and are now considered to be amongst the elite players of the future.
Football offers children a great opportunity to develop important social skills that will serve them well throughout life. If your daughter is interested in becoming a member of the Doncaster Rovers Belles football club, please feel free to contact us. The only restriction that we place on prospective new players is that regretably, we are prevented from allowing girls to train or play with us if they are already registered to a club within the Sheffield & Hallamshire Girls County League.
