In November The Doncaster Rovers Belles received funding from the Humber Learning Consortium's Community Grants scheme to run a training programme designed to incorporate a work experience based programme based around football and multisport activities. The course was specifically aimed at unemployed people who might not otherwise consider a career in sport.

The 20 participants recently completed the course after receiving bespoke training in house and at various locations within the Doncaster area with the Belles coaching staff. A national level 1 Governing Body sport qualification was included as part of the course

The Training also included the following

  • Coaches assistant training
  • In house training workshops

Each participant received a course pack containing a record of what they have done throughout the programme. The hours were made flexible to meet the needs of the participants.

Scott Duncanson Doncaster Rovers Belles Community Engagement Officer said "We would like to thank the Humber Learning Consortium for giving us the opportunity to deliver a first class programme aimed at changing the life of 20 residents of Doncaster".

Community Grants is part-funded by the European Union through the European Social Fund (ESF) and is co-financed by the Skills Funding Agency.
