Army In Partnership With The Open Age Section

Premier ladies football team, the Doncaster Rovers Belles will benefit from a financial boost from the Army with over £3000 in sponsorship funding.

The ‘Donny Belles’ will gain funding towards a new kit and advertising presence in the Doncaster Army Careers Information Office (ACIO). 25% of all team games will be sponsored by the Army as well as VIP visits to the Donny Belles grounds from former players, Jess Till, Jade Walker, Nikki Frier and Rachael Wheatman. All three are currently serving in the Army and will be included in post match discussions and will be on hand to promote the team.  

The oldest and most successful ladies teams in Yorkshire, the Donny Belles are bidding to become members of the FA Women’s Super League. Once it is an established league, many of the games will be televised on ESPN.

Jonathan James, Chairman of the Doncaster Rovers Belles commented:  “The team has received a real morale boost when the sponsorship with the Army was finalised, this will help to boost our chances as we need to prove that we can generate income through sponsorship opportunities, support and community work and promoting the website.”

Warrant Officer Class Two Alan Johnson, Senior Recruiter at the Doncaster ACIO added: “Camaraderie is very important in the Army, and local roots even more so, I’m delighted to announce our sponsorship of the Donny Belles, with local links already well established between the ACIO and the ladies team due to the enlistments of Jess, Jade and Nikki.”
