PREVIEW: Redfearn looks towards first game
Neil Redfearn takes his side to Watford to kick off the second half of the campaign
Belles’ Head Coach Neil Redfearn takes charge of his first game as they travel to Watford on Sunday.
Redfearn officially took charge just before the new year and has been impressed with the squad since being around them over the last couple of months.
And he is now looking forward to taking to the dugout for the first time,
He said: “The girls have been brilliant and have bought into everything I’ve asked; It’s been really enjoyable.
“They’re relishing the fact they’re doing well and they’ve showed that in training. They’ve been excellent for me.
“The games are just a continuation of what we do during the week.
“If we can go into any game with the tempo and quality we’ve been setting in training then the results should take care of themselves.
“We’re in a good spell of form and we want to continue that on Sunday.”
Sunday sees top take on bottom of WSL 2 with Watford looking to get their season up and running, but Redfearn believes that his side can take on any team in the league if they stick to what they do best.
He added: “They’ve got a new manager in and they’ve bolstered their squad so they’ll be looking to kick start their season on Sunday.
“They’re bottom of the league but it won’t be an easy game that’s for sure.
“Although I’m only interested in what we do on Sunday. If we do what we do well then we’ll be able to give them a good game.”
Redfearn has attended a couple of Belles games this season already and commented on the level of support the club receives from it’s great fans.
He said: “Yes, they’re loud!
“I’ve sat with them at the Keepmoat and it’s great to see their passion for the team.
“These are exciting times for Doncaster Belles and we’re lucky to have the strong hardcore group of supporters that we have that really get behind the girls and follow us everywhere.
“I remember when I was playing for Doncaster Rovers and the Belles had a strong fanbase then too so not much has changed.
“We need them to stick by us and we admire them all for their dedication to the club.”
