Doncaster Rovers Belles manager John Buckley felt that his side deserved more for their efforts as they fell 3-1 at Chelsea on the opening day of the season.
Buckley said "The result flattered Chelsea and I don't think that's a fair scoreline in relation to the way that we played.
“There wasn't a great deal in it but credit to Chelsea they took their chances.
"I thought that we started the game well and deservedly took the lead when Alyssa pounced on a mistake by their goalkeeper.
"It was just a shame that we couldn't hold on to the lead up until half time as I felt we had edged the first half.
"At half time the game was still there to be won and again we opened the half well but couldn't get in front. We conceded a second on the counter attack following a high, dangerous challenge that in my opinion should of been a free kick to us. But Susi has finished it very well at the back post from an excellent cross from Rafferty on the left.
"We dug in and showed character to keep going once we went behind. Leandra was unlucky with her header that was cleared off the line and Lyndsey just couldn't put the rebound in. Then we get done with the last kick of the game again on the counter as we were pushing for an equaliser.
"But I'm not disappointed with the effort they put in. They should hold their heads high.
“We’ll keep going as we are. We’re a good bunch.”
