Doncaster Rovers Belles manager John Buckley admitted that his side was fortunate to earn a draw at home to Birmingham City Ladies in their final match of the WSL season.
After the Belles came back to level at 2-2 with two goals in the last two minutes, Buckley said: “I think in some of the other games we’ve played in, we probably have deserved to get something and we haven't.
“Did we deserve it today? I don’t know because they were a better team than us.
“I sit and do all the stats during the game and we did have a lot of balls across the face of the goal, but it’s the same old story for us - we just can’t finish.
“Character-wise it was brilliant but we need to concentrate more on finishing. They’ll probably feel that they had enough chances to win the game. I thought when we made the changes, we were better.
“The one thing that our players struggle with is communication. They don’t talk to each other. If they give each other a simple bit of information, it makes it easier for the player on the ball.”
Buckley singled out 16-year-old striker Jessica Sigsworth - the youngest player in the league - for special praise.
“As much as you can say she’s naive, she’s a breath of fresh air,” he said.
“She’s so keen to run, tackle and run at people. She’s still got a lot to learn but she works so hard. If I’m honest, she could still be a bit too young but she’s been thrown in. She’s a brilliant kid."
