COMMUNITY: Lipka inspires local girls teams
Belles' midfielder Kasia Lipka attended the grand opening of Kiveton Park FC's new all-weather pitch and gave some advice to the youngsters.
Recently, Kasia Lipka popped along to the opening of Kiveton Park FC's new 3G pitch which will be used to promote more grassroots football opportunities for both boys and girls across Kiveton and neighbouring areas. The grand opening was an all-day event, based at the Kiveton Community Sports Park, which included access to Football, Zorb ball, Walking football, tag rugby, visually impaired sports, Boccia and disabled cricket.
The day was a huge success and finished off with a friendly Girls U12 game between Kiveton Park Girls and Sheffield United Community Ladies, the first time the pitch was used for a full friendly game. During half time, both teams got a special team talk from Lipka, giving them some advice and challenges to try and help them within the second half. This spiced the game more into life, with lots of chances created which kept the keepers very busy. The game ended 1-1, a fitting way to finish a great celebratory match.
After the game, Kasia then held a Q&A with all the players and coaches to offer some advice and a great chance for the players to pick Kasia’s brain on the most challenging topics in football – which team Kasia supports.
On the event, the Belles number six said she hopes the new facility will help grow grassroots football in the area, commenting: "The afternoon was great for the girls to formally open the 3G facility with a great little friendly.
"The teams from Kiveton Park Girls and Sheffield United Community Ladies played really well, a tight game and it’s great to speak with the girls after.
"There were no facilities like this when I was younger and this new pitch offers something special locally to get more girls and boys to play football."
