The FA brings the Continental Shot Stoppers Road Show to Doncaster.
As part of its ongoing support for the new FA Women’s Super League Teams (FAWSL), The FA – along with FAWSL partner Continental Tyre Group – will be bringing a new interactive Road Show ‘The Continental Shot Stoppers’ to Doncaster Rovers Belles on Sunday 28th August.
The Road Show will visit the Keepmoat as part of the pre match build up before Doncaster Rovers Belles take on Birmingham LFC, kick off 1400.
Aimed at girls between the age of eight and 16, Continental Shot Stoppers is a nationwide Road Show developed by The FA and sponsor, Continental. The programme encourages football participation and, more specifically, shows the different skills and abilities needed for goal keeping.
The programme is developed by Keith Rees, Senior Women’s Goalkeeping Coach at The FA, and it’s a fun, safe, and youthful series of interactive coaching sessions and activities. There will be six core coaching zones set out on a full size pitch, supported by four interactive areas testing a variety of skills including speed, reaction, accuracy and reflex.
“The ‘Continental Shot Stoppers’ Road Show is absolutely fantastic news for the women’s game. I’m really looking forward to working with Continental Tyres to help capture the imagination of as many girls around the country as possible.” commented Keith.
The main focus of the Road Show will be to provide a fun and rewarding experience for all participants, no matter what their level. As well as unique coaching the Road Show will include competitions, prizes, goodies and giveaways alongside personal appearances from some of the Women’s game’s leading players, photo opportunities and tickets to upcoming Doncaster Ladies fixtures.
Working with Doncaster Ladies Belles, The FA is looking to attract up to 200 local girls aged 8 – 16 to take part in the Road Show.
Guy Frobisher, Marketing Director at Continental Tyres, added; “Continental Tyres has a long history in football sponsorship and as part of our overall support for The FAWSL, we are delighted to sponsor this new initiative. The Continental Shot Stoppers Road Show will give players around the country the chance to try their hand at goalkeeping. The Road Show also reflects Continental’s core values of safety and stopping when it really counts.”
Anyone interested in participating in the Road Show should contact the organisers to register for a place. Requests should be sent to contishotstoppers@sportcel.com
