Head Groundsman Andy Thompson reveals how the Keepmoat Stadium pitch is in fantastic shape.
Whilst most people were enjoying time off in the sun, Andy and his team were working hard, often through to the early hours of the morning, to remove the grass and prepare the pitch for seeding.
When speaking about the processes involved in trying to get the best playing surface possible, it became apparent of the pride the team take in their work.
"The pitch renovation has gone well," said Andy
"It [the pitch] was seeded just over four weeks ago and has progressed at a staggering rate to be honest.
"It [the pitch] still needs a few games on it for the bedding in process to fully complete.
"Although it will be in the best condition it has been at the start of the mens season for over four years, which is a positive going into the new season, I still want to make it even better!!".
The first game on the renovated pitch will be Doncaster Rovers Belles v Liverpool Ladies on Saturday 23rd June with a 2pm kick off.
