Belles Head of Coaching Needham has been inspiring players to reach greater heights since her teens, and at 21 years old decided to drop her playing career in favour of her coaching.
“I felt I was a better coach than player,” she says.
“I set my own coaching company up going into schools and became the Centre Director for Barnsley Girls Centre of Excellence whilst doing an admin job in the mornings.
“I was then very fortunate to get a full time position at The David Beckham Academy, where I worked for two-and-a-half years in London and, later, in Los Angeles.
“I joined the FA in 2007 and I have had various roles within the FA working as a Skills Coach to Team Leader to now County Coach Developer for Derbyshire, delivering courses and supporting coaches on their learning journeys.”
Needham was also appointed Head Coach of the England Women’s Deaf Team earlier this year, a challenge she is relishing, but she is equally excited and positive about continuing her good work for the Belles.
